Your Turn!
As some of you know, I like to write a "December Daily" devotional on my blog/website. I wish I could say that I blog every day in December, but usually it ends up being more like 2-3 times a week.
But this year, I am planning ahead. Ok, not that much ahead, but hey, its a start!!
And that is where you come in. I would like to have some guest posts mixed in throughout the month. So if you have ever written anything, or dreamed of being a writer, here is your chance!!
I truly believe everyone has a story to tell, and it is time to tell yours.
You may be thinking: what in the world can I write about? Well, I am glad you thought that! Here are some "guidelines".
It needs to be something relatable to Christmas, winter, or something to do with the Holidays. It can be a story, a recipe or a favorite memory of Christmas or even a recipe. As long as it is personal to you. It can also be your reflections on some scripture that relates to Christmas. It doesnt necessarily have to be Christmas story scripture, although it can be. Just as long as you relate it to the season.
You cannot tell someone else's story. It has to be your story. It can, however, be a story about your husband, family or group celebration that YOU personally were a part of or were affected by, as long as you tell it from your perspective, and what it means to you. For example: My mother grew up on a farm. They didn't have much for Christmas. So when she grew up and had a family of her own, she made up for it. And I was the beneficary of that. See what I mean? It was her story, but it made mine what it is.
It has to have some spiritual application. Because really, a story is just that: a story without application. It doesn't have to be deep and profound. Just meaningful.
It needs to be around 500 words. A little more or less is ok, though. Just not 10,000. Thats called a chapter book.
It should be kind, uplifting and not preachy. Dont talk down to people. Just write like you talk. And don't use the word you too much. If you do, you will make people feel like I am making you feel right now. Like they are being schooled. People want to form their own thoughts. So be careful. Write real.
I reserve the right to edit for readability and to make it more concise or less preachy if necessary. But I will email you the final before it is published for your approval.
I also reserve the right to refuse any that do not meet the guidelines. But again, I will email you and as you to revise if it is not what I am looking for.
I am giving prizes!! If you submit something, I will send you a prize! A "Happy" in the mail for Christmas!! I am not sure what it will be, but you will like it!
So get busy!! Send your submissions or any questions you may have to me at: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. by November 28. I will email you and let you know I got it, and when it will be published so you can send your readers here, and I will give credit so all my readers know where you are writing. Have fun!!
